Wilbur Wombat’s Walkabout

At some point in time there was a wombat in my bed.

The antics of his animal friends in my house were crazy. Wombat is an animal from the wild, so when he got restless, he went away on a walkabout for a big adventure …

See all the great places in Australia that wombat visits in Wilbur Wombat’s Walkabout.

A little while ago I had a wombat in my bed. He filled my house with his friends from the bush, so that every room had someone new inside.
One day he went away. I was sad. He went wandering around the country and I didn’t know where he was. Many of my friends told me they had seen him while he was on his holiday.
He had gone on Wilbur Wombat’s Walkabout.

  • There’s a wombat in my bed is a beautiful Australian children’s book. Not only is it a beautiful story, this book engages children activities through the beautiful and colourful illustrations that support the text. Children also learn to identify Australian animals in a fun and entertaining format. It is very difficult to find books with Australian content for young readers in Australia – I wish this book had been around when my daughter was learning to read it would have been one of her favourite.

  • The story books can be used in the classroom using a cross curricula program which encompasses a wide range of activities ranging from English, math, science, geography, Aboriginal culture, music and art. I feel it is very worthwhile for Primary school and for Special Education teachers

  • Thank you so much for the Wombat book.  Our daughter LOVES it! She has asked to read it several times already and wants to take it to school to read to her class as well, so it is much appreciated.
